How we picked
We kept only the bases whose manufacturer lists PlayStation support, using the same records behind our platform compatibility matrix. Six of 29 qualify. Each is scored on our standard wheel base rubric (drive type, peak torque, platform support, mounting and pedal port), explained on our how we evaluate page.
Then we ran every PlayStation-capable rim and pedal set through our compatibility checker against each base. On PS5 the base carries the licence, but the rim still has to fit the quick release, and some rims are Xbox-only.
PS5 wheel picks
Best overall: Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel
Best overall
Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel
- Drive type
- direct-drive
- Peak torque
- 11 Nm
- Platform support
- pc, playstation, xbox
- Mounting options
- bottom, desk-clamp
An 11 Nm direct drive wheel with TRUEFORCE sold with its PRO wheel, in PlayStation/PC and Xbox/PC versions, for console racers who want a higher-torque Logitech setup.
Strengths
- 11 Nm direct drive with TRUEFORCE
- Magnetic hall-effect shift paddles plus dual clutch paddles usable as handbrake or extra axes
- RPM LED display and 5 onboard profiles
- Takes RS Series wheels via the RS Wheel Hub quick release
Watch out for
- PlayStation and Xbox are separate versions
- PRO Racing Pedals are sold separately
The G PRO is the top PS5 option on our scoring (8.0) and the simplest to buy: base and wheel come together, and you pick the PlayStation/PC version. Logitech also sells Xbox/PC and PC-only versions, so check the box.
It’s 11 Nm direct drive with TRUEFORCE. The wheel has magnetic hall-effect shift paddles plus dual clutch paddles you can set up as a handbrake or extra axes, with an RPM LED display and five onboard profiles. It launched at $999.99. Logitech notes that PlayStation use of its RS Wheel Hub requires the PRO Racing Wheel/base. The PRO Racing Pedals are sold separately.
Best high-torque PS5 base: Fanatec ClubSport DD+
Best high-torque PS5 base
Fanatec ClubSport DD+ (18 Nm)
- Drive type
- direct-drive
- Peak torque
- 18 Nm
- Platform support
- pc, playstation
- Mounting options
- bottom, desk-clamp
A PlayStation-licensed direct-drive base rated at 18 Nm holding torque with a QR2 base-side, for PS5, PS4 and PC drivers.
Strengths
- Officially licensed for PS5 and PS4; works on Windows PC
- Holding torque raised from 15 Nm to 18 Nm via firmware V1.4.2.3 or later
- Preinstalled QR2 base-side (Type-F)
- Pedal, shifter, handbrake and CAN ports
Watch out for
- Xbox is not listed among supported platforms
- Table clamp and mounting brackets are sold separately
The ClubSport DD+ scores 7.9 and is the only PlayStation base above 11 Nm. It’s officially licensed for PS5 and PS4 and works on PC. Firmware V1.4.2.3 or later raised it from 15 Nm to 18 Nm of holding torque, about 64% more than the G PRO.
It uses Fanatec’s full QR2 base-side (Type-F) and has pedal, shifter, handbrake and CAN ports. The table clamp and mounting brackets are sold separately, and Xbox isn’t supported. Six PlayStation-capable Fanatec rims are confirmed on it in our data, but the CSL rims run at up to 8 Nm on its QR2 base-side. Use a full-QR2 rim to get all 18 Nm. Its compatibility panel lists every rim and pedal set.
Best entry direct drive: Logitech G RS50 System
Best entry direct drive (under 10 Nm)
Logitech G RS50 System
- Drive type
- direct-drive
- Peak torque
- 8 Nm
- Platform support
- pc, playstation, xbox
- Mounting options
- bottom, desk-clamp
A bundle of the 8 Nm RS50 direct drive base with the RS Wheel Hub and RS Round Wheel pre-assembled, plus a table clamp, for PC, PlayStation or Xbox depending on version.
Strengths
- Up to 8 Nm peak torque with TRUEFORCE
- Ships with RS50 Base, Wheel Hub and Round Wheel pre-assembled
- Integrated quick release
- Table clamp and four T-nuts with bolts included
Watch out for
- Platform depends on version: PC only, PS/PC or Xbox/PC
- RS Pedals are sold separately
The RS50 System ties the RS50 Base at 7.7, the best score under 10 Nm. We pick the System because it arrives ready to race: base, wheel hub and round wheel pre-assembled, plus a table clamp and four T-nuts with bolts.
It delivers up to 8 Nm with TRUEFORCE and comes in PC-only, PS/PC and Xbox/PC versions. One detail sets Logitech apart: Logitech says pairing a PlayStation base with the Xbox wheel hub covers PC, PlayStation and Xbox. If you own both consoles, that’s the only route we track that covers all three. RS Pedals are sold separately.
Best Fanatec entry base: Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro
Best Fanatec entry base
Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Wheel Base (8 Nm)
- Drive type
- direct-drive
- Peak torque
- 8 Nm
- Platform support
- pc, playstation
- Mounting options
- bottom, desk-clamp
A PlayStation-licensed 8 Nm direct-drive base sold with the Boost Kit 180 power supply and a QR2 Lite base-side, for PS5, PS4 and PC racers.
Strengths
- Officially licensed for PS5 and PS4; also works on PC
- Boost Kit 180 power supply included for 8 Nm peak torque
- Preinstalled QR2 Lite base-side (Type-C); PlayStation button caps in the box
- Pedal, shifter and handbrake ports on the base
Watch out for
- Xbox is not listed among supported platforms
- Steering wheel is not included in this SKU
- Table clamp is sold separately; front inserts are for accessories only
The Gran Turismo DD Pro (6.7) is Fanatec’s PlayStation entry point and the only Fanatec PS base under 10 Nm. It’s officially licensed for PS5 and PS4, works on PC, and includes the Boost Kit 180 power supply for 8 Nm peak torque. A QR2 Lite base-side (Type-C) comes preinstalled, with PlayStation button caps in the box.
This SKU doesn’t include a steering wheel. The CSL Elite WRC and CSL GT3 share its QR2 Lite quick release, and full-QR2 rims, from the ClubSport RS to the Podium BMW M4 GT3, fit directly too: a QR2 Lite base-side accepts QR2 wheel-sides with no upgrade part. That makes it the PlayStation base with the most confirmed rims in our data (seven). It has pedal, shifter and handbrake ports, and the table clamp is sold separately.
Best bundle with pedals: Thrustmaster T598
Best bundle with pedals included
Thrustmaster T598
- Drive type
- direct-drive
- Peak torque
- 5 Nm
- Platform support
- pc, playstation
- Mounting options
- desk-clamp
A direct axial drive wheel bundle with a detachable 30 cm Sportcar rim and two-pedal Raceline Pedals LTE, aimed at PlayStation and PC racers moving to direct drive.
Strengths
- 5 Nm constant torque with +100% overshoot capability
- Detachable Sportcar rim with magnetic paddle shifters
- Bundled Raceline Pedals LTE connect to the base, upgradeable to three pedals
- Clamping system included
Watch out for
- Older Thrustmaster add-on rims may need the Quick Release Adapter, sold separately
- This listing covers the PS5/PS4/PC version; Xbox needs the separate Xbox/PC version
- 6.4 kg servo base
The T598 is the only PlayStation package we track that includes pedals. It launched at $599.99 with a detachable Sportcar rim with magnetic paddle shifters, Raceline Pedals LTE that connect to the base, and a clamping system. This version supports PS5, PS4 and PC. Thrustmaster sells a separate Xbox/PC version.
It scores 6.0 because Thrustmaster rates it at 5 Nm constant torque. Thrustmaster adds +100% overshoot capability on top of that figure, so it isn’t directly comparable to Fanatec’s or Logitech’s numbers. The bundled pedals are upgradeable to three pedals. Older Thrustmaster add-on rims may need the Quick Release Adapter, sold separately. Our data lists the desk clamp as its only mount, so confirm cockpit fit before buying a rig.

Torque is the clearest split. The ClubSport DD+ has 18 Nm, the G PRO 11 Nm, and the rest 8 Nm or less. Logitech’s three entries gain a little on platform support because they also reach Xbox, through Xbox versions or, for the RS50 Base, an Xbox-compatible wheel. If you only care about PS5, the ClubSport DD+ is the most capable motor, and the G PRO is the most complete package.
Why Moza, Simagic and Simucube are missing
Of the 29 bases we track, 23 don’t support PlayStation. The reasons come straight from each manufacturer, and our console compatibility guide explains the licensing behind them:
| Brand | Bases we track | PlayStation status |
|---|---|---|
| Moza | R3 bundle, R5 bundle, R9 V3, R12 V2, R16, R21, R25 Ultra | Moza states its products don’t currently support PS4 or PS5 |
| Simagic | Alpha EVO Sport, EVO, EVO Pro, EVO Ultra | PC only; no console support listed by Simagic or retailers |
| Simucube | Simucube 2 Pro, Simucube 3 Sport, Pro, Ultimate | Simucube states its products are PC only |
| Asetek | La Prima, Forte, Invicta | Listed for Windows PC only |
| Fanatec | CSL DD (5 Nm and 8 Nm), ClubSport DD, Podium DD | Not compatible with any PlayStation console |
| Thrustmaster | T818 | PC only, regardless of which rim is fitted |
Fanatec is the trap. Its CSL DD, ClubSport DD and Podium DD look almost identical to the PlayStation models, and Fanatec says the CSL DD and Podium DD can’t be upgraded for PlayStation. The PlayStation twins are separate products: the Gran Turismo DD Pro for the CSL DD, and the ClubSport DD+ for the ClubSport DD.
Moza is the other one buyers ask about, especially the popular R12 V2. There’s no workaround: Moza’s Xbox route runs through its Xbox-licensed ESX wheel, and there’s no equivalent for PlayStation.
PS5 pedals and rim compatibility
Rims
On PlayStation the licence is in the base, but the rim still has to fit and be offered for PlayStation.
| Rim | Quick release | Status on ClubSport DD+ | Status on GT DD Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| ClubSport Formula V3 | QR2 | Compatible | Compatible |
| ClubSport Steering Wheel RS | QR2 | Compatible | Compatible |
| ClubSport Steering Wheel GT V2 | QR2 | Check chart (not on Fanatec’s list) | Compatible |
| Podium BMW M4 GT3 | QR2 | Compatible | Compatible |
| Podium GT3 Endurance | QR2 | Compatible | Compatible |
| CSL Elite WRC | QR2 Lite | Compatible, up to 8 Nm | Compatible |
| CSL GT3 | QR2 Lite | Compatible, up to 8 Nm | Compatible |
The Rally Sweden for Xbox and R330 V2 for Xbox rims aren’t offered for PlayStation, so skip them for a PS5 build. Fanatec also notes that PS4 functions can be limited on some rims, such as the Podium BMW M4 GT3.
On the T598, Thrustmaster’s EVO Racing 32R Leather and Ferrari 488 GT3 add-on fit directly, and the 488 GT3 needs no adapter. The SF1000 Edition add-on needs both the Quick Release Upgrade SF1000 and the Quick Release Adapter, sold separately. Logitech’s PlayStation bases take Logitech RS and PRO Series wheels.
Pedals
PS5 pedals connect through the base, never straight to the console, so they have to match the base’s brand:
- ClubSport DD+ and GT DD Pro: Fanatec’s CSL Pedals LC, ClubSport Pedals V3 (and V3 Inverted), CSL Elite Pedals V2 and CSL Pedals all connect to the base over RJ12. Fanatec specifies a PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base for the CSL Elite V2, and the ClubSport V3 has no console support over direct USB.
- G PRO and RS50: the PRO Racing Pedals (100 kg load cell, three pedals) and RS Pedals (75 kg load cell, two pedals). The PRO pedals also work with a G29 or G923 through the Logitech G Racing Adapter, sold separately.
- T598: the T-LCM and Raceline Pedals III LC, both 100 kg load cell, three-pedal sets that list PS4 and PS5.
USB-only and PC-only sets, including Heusinkveld, Simagic and Moza’s CRP2 and SRP2, won’t work on PS5. Our best load cell pedals ranking marks console support for every set.
Where to mount a PS5 wheel base
All six PlayStation bases suit a desk, but they get there differently:
| Base | Mounting listed | In the box |
|---|---|---|
| G PRO Racing Wheel | Bottom, desk clamp | Base and wheel |
| ClubSport DD+ | Bottom, desk clamp | Table clamp and mounting brackets sold separately |
| RS50 Base | Bottom, desk clamp | Four T-nuts and bolts; table clamp sold separately |
| RS50 System | Bottom, desk clamp | Table clamp and four T-nuts with bolts |
| Gran Turismo DD Pro | Bottom, desk clamp | Table clamp sold separately; front inserts are for accessories only |
| T598 | Desk clamp | Clamping system included |
If you move to a stand or cockpit, match its torque rating to the base. Foldable rigs such as the Next Level Racing GTLite Pro and RC F are rated to 13 Nm, so our checker clears the 8 Nm bases and the 11 Nm G PRO but marks the 18 Nm ClubSport DD+ as not compatible. The Trak Racer TR80S, rated to 16 Nm, also falls short of the DD+. Tube cockpits rated to 25 Nm, like the Next Level Racing F-GT Pro and Trak Racer TR5, cover every PS5 base here except the T598.
The T598 is the odd one out. It lists only a desk clamp, with no wheel-deck mounting, so check Thrustmaster’s mounting options before you plan a cockpit. Our best sim racing cockpits and best wheel stands for direct drive rankings list every published torque rating.
Which PS5 wheel should you buy?
- You want one box that just works: the G PRO Racing Wheel, PlayStation/PC version.
- You want maximum force and you’re happy to build up: the ClubSport DD+ with a full-QR2 rim and Fanatec pedals.
- You want direct drive on a desk and might add an Xbox later: the RS50 System, using Logitech’s PlayStation-base-plus-Xbox-hub route.
- You’re committed to Fanatec on a smaller budget: the Gran Turismo DD Pro, which takes CSL rims and full-QR2 ClubSport and Podium rims alike.
- You want wheel and pedals in one purchase: the T598, which launched at $599.99.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best sim racing wheel for PS5?
The Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel in its PlayStation/PC version scores highest at 8.0. It's 11 Nm direct drive with the wheel included. For more force, the 18 Nm Fanatec ClubSport DD+ is the strongest PlayStation-licensed base we track.
Does Moza work on PS5?
No. Moza states its products don't currently support PS4 or PS5, so no Moza base, wheel or pedal set works on PlayStation.
Does the Fanatec CSL DD work on PS5?
No. Fanatec states the CSL DD isn't compatible with any PlayStation console and can't be upgraded for it. The PlayStation-licensed equivalent is the Gran Turismo DD Pro, which is also 8 Nm with a QR2 Lite quick release.
Can I use any Fanatec steering wheel on a PS5 base?
Most, but not all. Fanatec's Xbox rims, such as the Rally Sweden for Xbox, aren't offered for PlayStation. Other Fanatec rims work on PS5 when mounted on a PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base; the Gran Turismo DD Pro's QR2 Lite base-side takes full QR2 rims directly, while CSL rims run at up to 8 Nm on the ClubSport DD+.
What pedals work on PS5?
Pedals that plug into a PlayStation-licensed base of the same brand: Fanatec pedals on the ClubSport DD+ or GT DD Pro, Logitech PRO or RS Pedals on a PlayStation Logitech base, and Thrustmaster's T-LCM or Raceline Pedals III LC on the T598.
